ZEISBERGER HECKEWELDER AWARDS The Zeisberger Heckewelder Awards are presented each year to citizens of Tuscarawas County who exemplify outstanding service to the citizens of Tuscarawas County or who have enhanced a better understanding of the history of Tuscarawas County. By doing so, they have made Tuscarawas County a better place to live. The basis of the award shall be for service to society and to the county which exemplifies Humanity, Peace, God, and Love. To nominate someone for the Zeisberger Heckewelder Award send the following information to the Tuscarawas County Historical Society by February 1 each year:
Name, Address and Phone Number of Nominator Name Address and Phone Number of Nominee (Individual or Group) *The Nominee must be a resident of Tuscarawas County **The Nominee cannot be a current office holder Include information in a paragraph or more on the reason the nominee should be considered for the award. Nominees should be people or organizations that have performed services which have benefitted the economic, social, moral, and cultural life of the area, someone whose endeavors have brought merit to Tuscarawas county, or people who have made outstanding contributions to the quality of life or the preservation of history in the county. The medal is given to those who exemplify making Tuscarawas County a better place in which to reside. This is achieved by promoting the history of Tuscarawas County or by serving non-profit groups, church groups, or in leadership roles that assist the citizens of Tuscarawas County.
