Purpose of the Society

The purpose of the Society shall be to stimulate interest and encourage research in local history; to locate, mark, and commemorate historic sites; and to accumulate and preserve permanent records including pictures, written documents, maps, microfilms, and manuscripts.

Established May 20, 1921, the Tuscarawas County Historical Society has been telling Tuscarawas County’s history for ninety years. As we go forth, our main function is to maintain the Tuscarawas County archives. We are also involved with programs as an outreach to the community. We publish five issues per year of the Chronicler, free to our members. We recognize each spring significant individuals and organizations, who have contributed service to the society or the quality of life in the community. We are dedicated to preserving our heritage for generations to come.
